A SIXTY-year-old woman of Kalomo district in Southern Province has died after falling off a moving truck.

According to police, Annie Chilema with other passengers sat on top of bags of sweet potatoes as the truck moved but fell off as she attempted to pick a call.

“Upon falling down, she was subsequently run over by the same vehicle and died on the spot. The body is in Kalomo District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem. Investigations continue,” Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo told Choma Maanu Radio in statement yesterday.

Katongo said the accident happened yesterday around 10:00 hours on Kalomo-Mubanga road about eight kilometers East of Kalomo town, District kalomo.

“Involved was motor vehicle Mitsubishi Canter registration number AJC 9546 driven from West to East direction by Solomon Tomu aged 40 years of Sikwazwa village, Chief Siachitema of Kalomo, while carrying passengers on top of bags of sweet potatoes,” explained Katongo.
