A 32 year old man of Mazabuka district has survived with injuries after he was ran over by a goods train between Nega- Nega railway station and Kafue river bridge in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
ZAMBIA police public relations officer Esther Mwaata Katongo who confirmed the accident, says the incident occurred on October 14, at about 03 hours.
Katongo says police received a report from Mweemba Ng’andu 35 of holmes settlement in Nega-Nega that his brother Derrick Ng’andu aged 32 of the same address was run over by a goods train which was coming from southern to northern direction.
The police spokesperson who stated that the victim (Derrick Ng’andu 32) sustained a broken right leg and general body pains, says police visited the scene of accident and suspects the victim to have been drunk with the locally brewed illicit beer Kachasu.
She explained that Ng’andu 32 on his way home fell down near the rail line leaving his right leg in the rail line.
Katongo stated that when the goods train hooted the victim was fast asleep hence ranning over his leg and was rushed to Mazabuka General Hospital were he is admitted.
