Guidance Teacher at St. Mary’s Secondary School Hillary Mapani has lamented the number of school going children dropping out of school due to early pregnancy.
Mrs Mapani discloses that at St Mary’s school 31 girls fell pregnant from January to September.
She told journalists that from this total 22 have since delivered, while 9 are believed to have fallen pregnant during the Covid 19 imposed holiday between March and September 2020.
She however worries that the number of girls who fell pregnant during closure of schools may be more as some girls have not yet reported back since the re-opening of schools last month.
And Mrs Mapani reveals that 6 boys have also impregnated girls from the community.
